by Playing with KiD ViD Oval Beach has big sand dunes that are super fun to climb. I climbed up to the top and looked around. I could see the beach and the water sparkles of Lake Michigan. Then, I rolled down the sand dunes. I got sand everywhere but it was fun! I couldn’t stop laughing. The water was cold, but we went in summer on a really hot day, it felt good and I had so much fun!

  • Best Time To Go: Summer. Mornings from Memorial-Labor Day to enjoy a longer day. Outside of season it will be chilly. July averages low 61°- high 83° degrees. (16° - 28° Celsius)
  • Admission: Cash or credit $10 per car (Memorial Day-Labor Day), free entry Labor Day-Memorial Day or $50 for a season pass. Day passes and season passes are purchased at the beach gate.
  • How to get there: Lake Perryman Street to the Oval Beach parking lot, ride the Chain Ferry (Memorial Day-Labor Day) from downtown Saugatuck ($2 per person, each way), or call the Interurban Bus (269-857-1418) for $1 per ride within Saugatuck/Douglas (excludes $10 beach parking fee).
Other Insider Tips:Bathrooms are open daily 9am-7pm, with portable toilets available after 7pm.Strict policies: No dogs or alcohol allowed on the beach.No chair or umbrella rentals available at the beach.
